2018 chrome window trim removal

Hello everybody, I currently own a 2018 glc and something has got into the chrome window trim on the front door causing the rubber to swell and obstruct the window going up. I've got a new part but I just can't figure out how to fit it. I can peel the back of the trim up then try to slide it backwards but the wing mirror stops it. Can anybody help
