Hi,

I have these error messages - Active Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist Inoperable, along with PRE-SAFE functions limited see owners manual. My car is fitted with Distronic Plus.

I have had the system diagnosed tested at a local garage specialising in Mercedes. They say that the front nearside (passenger) radar sensor is faulty. However, I understand that the Blind Spot Assist is controlled by radar sensors at the rear.

I was thinking of purchasing a new radar sensor A0009058104 from ebay (from Germany) for £200. The garage wanted to charge my £480 for the sensor and £670 in total for installation

However, at the moment things just don't add up. Concerned that a fault will still be present after paying £670.

It would be good to know of a solution.

Regards John

It has happened couple of times to my 2018 . It all comes back after restarting it.
Since it is still under extended warranty, maybe I should have them check it out.

Reading elsewhere on this forum these messages can be caused by a faulty auxiliary battery. My GLC (warranty and service package expired) has been sat for long periods due to Covid. This auxiliary ‘battery’ is apparently a capacitator charged by the regenerative braking. With so little driving on mine these past three months there would be negligible recharging. I now have these error messages. I have a long trip planned in a weeks time which will give the auxiliary ‘battery’ plenty of opportunity to recharge. Option one is to replace the battery .. £100 plus and some contortionist work in the passenger footwell with risk of damaging trim parts. Option two is a £400 plus trip to merc dealer and waste of a day. (Prices from elsewhere on this site) Option three is the one I am taking .. do the very long drive (300+ miles) and see what happens. I will post the results.

I have done the one way journey, yet to return. Result is inconclusive. Still getting the error messages but all safety systems seem to be functioning correctly. Will see what happens when I put the next 300 miles in. I think nothing will change, and will need to go to a Merc specialist.
