Ambient lighting

Just wondering if ambient lighting in the doors is a normal thing? I've seen aftermarket kits online but wanted to know if it's also a factory feature?

The factory fitted ambient lighting is great, if anything it's overkill. 60 colours, animated patterns etc etc.
If you even adjust the climate temperature up or down the colour changes to reflect hotter or colder.
Kids love it, and it's everywhere in the cabin
64 Colours in GLE, it's like a light show, better than in the discovery sport I owned that you had to wait for a cloudy no moon night to see if it worked.

And 64 colours in my GLC Coupe too. New model.
I assume it is the same on all MB models with the mbux system.

I guess so. To be honest though once the initial excitement wears off you only ever keep them on the one colour/design. A bit like the electric seats and steering wheel. if you are the only one driving the car you only ever have to set them once. Never to be used again.

Agree Darren but every now and then I change the colour to check the voice assistant is working.

That's very true, I hardly ever use the voice assistant either to be honest, along with a lot of the other things such as parking assist. In fact the last time I used parking assist and the voice assistant was to show someone who hadn't seen it before - hey Mercedes I'm cold - and it knows who is asking and turns the heating up for that side of the vehicle. It is very clever but don't need it on most journeys. I use the driving aids all the time though, they are very useful on motorways.
