My dealer in the UK said the same and was surprised when I showed mine, I wrote to MB saying they were missing a trick not supplying and they said they would look into it, bet they never did though!
I bought mine from these guys on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Mud-...632853?hash=item48a730b695:g:7UkAAOSwEW9aVcvf. Fitted them late 2017 so have been on for 8000 miles and 14 months without any problems and along with the side running boards they keep most of the mud and grit off the car sides.
I messaged them first to confirm that they would fit as standard won't if you have running boards and they emailed me a photo of the flaps. There are several other sellers, all seem to be China so I guess will post worldwide.
The correct ones for mine with the running boards have a notch cut out in the front flaps, not there for cars without the side steps.
