Battery registration (code)

Just had the primary battery replaced. Last one lasted 8 months had a dead cell.

I am looking for confirmation that MB requires replacement batteries to be

registration or coded.

Is this a factory suggestion, or a requirement for best battery charging?

Where can I find something stated on this from MB?

thx

Related, does anyone have info on Technical Service Bulletins or recalls on the charging system?

Thx again

My 2018 GLC43 and my sisters 2016 GLC300 both required battery registration. I did a short how-to video on mine (both were the same procedure):

Yes, I saw the video you posted, thanks.

What I’m in search of is confirmation that the MB factory either requires battery registration
or do they suggest it?

Any idea where I might look for that?
The car will still run if you do not register the battery. Apparently new batteries do not need to be charged as aggressively as older batteries. The ECU stores the number of hours on the battery. When you “register” a new battery you are essentially zeroing out the hour counter. A newly registered battery does not charge as aggressively as a higher hour battery thus should last longer.
That's what I thought too

I'm looking for documentation, from MB,
which spells out new batteries should (or need) to be registered.

Any idea where I might find that?

Thx
