Brake Judder after only 5K miles

Took a long trip yesterday in the GLC and noticed when slowing down a judder on the brake peddle and a rumble noise. This got so noticeable that the passengers felt it too. Typically felt when applying the brake gently from 60-45 mph.

Took the car into MB dealer today and it seems that the rear disc breaks may have warped. It needs MB approval and new parts sent from Germany followed by 6 hours of labour. Not what I would expect from any new car, especially after only 5k miles. The car is safe to drive, but it will need fixing.

I can't see me keeping this car as long has I had intended.

Has anyone else had this or have I just been unlucky?

I think that's pretty unlucky. That's a pita and a safety concern as well. I would have left it there and told them to give me a loaner.

+1 :wink2:
update:

I got the car back from the Dealer today. They had the car for two days and replaced the front and rear brakes. Apparently, it was type of brakes MB use on some models that can sometimes cause a problem. I was told that the old type have a 'belt' in the mechanism (no, I don't understand that either) which can get misaligned. A different type of brake has been fitted. So far, so good. If you do get this problem your dealer will know what to do with it. It typically showed when lightly breaking from 70mph to 50mph. It was quite off putting.

I can't fault the dealer. Once I had reproduced the fault for them, they sorted it out.
No. It was free.
