Command online

Hi folks, I’ve been using my phone connected to command to allow the car unit to use my phone data so it can get me the built in Tom Tom live traffic updates and use Mercedes me etc. To do this I had to set my phone hotspot to on and make sure the phone was connected by bluetooth. When connected, there was a little yellow arrow next to the phone signal indicator on the command screen to indicate it’s working. However, recently I did a phone software update (iPhone X) and since then I just can’t get the thing to connect. In command settings it just says trying to connect. It sees my phone and my phone also connects to command (my phone shows the hotspot is connecting to something) but the connection doesn’t complete. Has anyone else had this problem?

No expert Muks but doesn't the command system get the tom tom traffic information via the built in sim card.

I have a galaxy S8 and it connects brilliantly.
IIRC you get free access to live traffic updates for the first 3 years from purchasing a new Mercedes. It is picked up via the car's own SIM card. I rarely have my phone on in the car (because I have no friends) yet I still get all the realtime congestion warnings and re-routes from the COMAND satnav.
At the moment I run Waze on my phone as well as sat nav on COMMAND. As a comparison, COMMAND does some really strange routes. I use it for my journey to the station each day (I know the way, but I use the traffic info)
Just on Friday COMMAND took me in the complete opposite (wrong) direction, after 5 minutes I started the route again and it took me back the way I came. I had my phone sat nav running at the same time and it wasn't because of traffic.

I want to use st nav on COMMAND but I dont have faith in it at the moment..

Yeah it does do traffic via tomtom live and it is free for 2 years..

One really good feature I found out when the fuel light came on, the sat nav gave me a list of nearest fuel stations..
Toobad is correct, it is free for 3 years
Thanks guys, I didn’t realize it was using the built in sim for the traffic. Makes perfect sense, I’ll have to spend a little more time reading on it. I’m still struggling with connecting the phone though to get the data connection for the other apps. One thing I can’t get to work without a separate data connection for sure though is the Mercedes me portal - for sending addresses to the car. I’ve tried deleting the phone profile and re-connecting, but still no luck.

I’ve tried similar comparisons between my phones sat nav and the cars. The command does indeed pick up some odd routes. I tweaked the preferences (fastest, shortest etc) and now I get a reasonable-ish correlation between the two. However, on one of my regular routes, neither the phone or the command ever give me the shortest route I know for sure is the shortest route.

I’ve had the same issues. Can’t ever seem to get it connected to the internet (assume via my phone)
I'm exactly the same. Phone connects to BT no problem and I can stream music to it but for the life of me I cannot connect to the internet or use any of the MB apps as I keeps saying that a data connection is not available.
Sat Nav

My TOM TOM traffic subscription run out a month ago, the car is three years old. When I registered for Mercedes Me, (which was a bit or pain) but its a great app, I went to 'shop' then 'Mercedes Me connect shop' then have to register again! and then in the 'Services' you can purchase the Tom Tom Traffic 1,2 or 3 years. Relatively simple.
As previously said, I had to 'Hot spot' to get any internet accesses to the Command system.
