Click on the link below to the Euro NCAP site for the safety rating test of the GLC. You can have a trawl through all the different categories and then there is a video showing several GLC's getting beaten up by various tests ! Reassuringly tough if you ask me and be thankful you don't have a Lancia Ypsilon...

5 stars, thats great news. I find that there is basically no excuse to not have the highest standards of safety in vehicles you produce or buy. And now with all these braking for you technologies, cars should be really, really safe.

The most dangerous part of any modern car is still the nut behind the steering wheel however...

Just a matter of time, maybe 10-15 yrs from now? all cars would be self-driving and that technology will eliminate nuts behind steering wheel... Computer - assuming 100% foolproof - would respond much much better than human being and we all know that :wink2:

I have to agree, quite a few manufacturers are pushing hard to get autonomous vehicles up and running. At the moment they are in their infancy, as is the technology, but I can see a day where you punch in the co-ordinates into your electric/fuel cell/hydrogen car and sit back and enjoy the ride. Safer ? Has to be really, although when it goes wrong it will make the evening news !
