Hi
I've had my GLC for almost one year (my first Mercedes) and I'm just looking at booking a 20,000 miles (B1) service for it. I've had a look online at what Mercedes do for this service and what you get for £504. Clearly, very little!

They change the engine oil and oil filter and do a few CHECKS (lights, brakes, screen wash, and a few minor items) but don't actually include replacing anything else in the price. Not bad money for around 2 hours work!

Can anyone advise on why don't they change the air filter in either the A service or the B service (and when do they actually recommend changing it?) and why you get so little for this price?

I can't tell you why they don't change the filter but the MB service is a real rip off. My car has just turned 3 years old and due an A4 service for which the local supplying dealer wants £565 and the next nearest £493. Apart from the difference of £72 between main dealer quotes for identical work, that amount of money is unacceptable.
On my last service the MB dealer wanted to top up with adblue until I refused as I fill up myself, he wanted to charge me £2 a litre plus £35 just to pour the stuff in + vat. I've just bought 20 litres for £13.19 delivered.
As my car is now out of warranty I've booked in to a local German car specialist next week who will do exactly the same work including brake fluid change using genuine approved parts for more than £300 less, of course I'll lose the MB breakdown cover but I can buy that from one of the big providers for £50 or less.

Hi LONS

Can I ask is the specialist local garage you use Prestige German Cars in South Shields?
