Hi newbie here,
We have the above car and about a month ago it broke down on a bypass in the snow. Completely lost power when looked at by our mechanic he found the front diff had failed and needed replacing at 41k miles seems excessive.
Cost was £2.5k fitted and as the car was over 3 years old was out of warranty.

I emailed mb but they are not interested in the slightest and won't offer any explanation or contribution to the cost.

This part is believed to be substandard by our mechanic just wandering if anyone here has had any problems.

The wife drives the car very carefully only replaced front tryes at 37000 and just done pads and discs due to wear indicator coming on at 43000 so seems wrong for such a part to go. Here's a pic that I sent mb of the damage to the diff.
