I like this move, moving the volume model first before getting all the fun models ready for release. At least they have their priorities straight.
For exact engine, trim and pricing details we’ll have to wait a few weeks yet, but our prototype was fitted with a 208bhp 2.0-litre four-cyl turbo petrol engine. It’s expected that only four-cylinder diesel and petrol engines will be offered initially, with a plug-in petrol-electric hybrid to come. Zillmann also hinted that a GLC 450 AMG Sport with the same 362bhp twin-turbo V6 as the C 450 AMG Sport

Nope, MB is going to follow what they did with the C-Class in NA and only offer the base "C300" engine in a vehicle this size. So the base model here will be a GLC300.its likely to be the 2.0T 4 cylinder for NA. In Europe, MB sells a C250, and I wish they would bring it here. I'm fairly certain that MB is going to do the same thing with the GLC class, and restrict us to starting with the GLC300.
MB, bring the GLC250 to the US! I don't need a GLC300!
The U.S. gets the GLC 300 rear-wheel-drive and GLC 300 4MATIC all-wheel-drive models at launch this fall. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine produces 241 hp and 273 pounds-feet of torque mated to the nine-speed G-tronic automatic transmission, according to Mercedes. Additional powertrains will debut in 2016 and 2017.
