Not a surprise, but the GLC Coupe is officially heading to production.

The announcement came from Dr. Gunnar Güthenke, who heads Mercedes-Benz’s G-Class development. According to Autoblog, Güthenke spoke at an event at the Frankfurt Motor Show and also revealed that the company’s crossover and SUV sales are up 25 percent this year compared to 2014. Even the G-Class is seeing sales up 20 percent and that’s over a record-setting year in 2014. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class also gets several upgrades, including a new base 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine.

Glad to see it making the progress it is so far and looking as good as it is here, proportions in the rear end in earlier pictures had me concerned.

Did they ever release a picture of the GLC without the wraps? If it's already going into production it makes sense to show people what they're buying.

It is so close to a coupe. Really it is just a raised up coupe. I looks great. I just think it's funny that it is only a shade different from a coupe.
