Hi guys, I’m new to this forum and currently awaiting build and delivery date on a 220d GLC Coupe. Can anyone confirm whether the exterior door handles light up at night?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum, sure somebody with a 220d will be able to answer your question, which model have you ordered. Can you please fill in your location as some answers are market specific.

I’ve ordered the 220d 4MATIC AMG line with night pack and running boards.. based in the north west. Thanks in advance
Mercedes tend to change what options they bundle in the various packages they offer. I guess they look at the demand for certain features and if one is particularly popular, they will position it for maximum revenue. My 2016 GLC has the illuminated door handles, they work in conjunction with the "Follow Me Home" feature which holds the interior and exterior lights on for 30 seconds so you can see your way to and from your house. When I bought Red Ken the illuminated door handles were part of the Keyless-Go Comfort Package. In that package I also got touch locking of the doors using a sensor pad in the door handles and also the ability to open/close the tailgate using gesture control by sweeping a foot under the bumper. Unfortunately, the Keyless Go Comfort Package was only available to those prepared to shell out the extra £2795 required to buy the Premium Plus package and could not be ordered in isolation like the Keyless-Go push-button engine start package.

Thanks for your reply. Only reason I ask is because I saw it on someone’s GLC last night and was curious to know whether mine would have it too as I think it’s a rather nice addition. I didn’t opt for any other packages though as part of the order so maybe I won’t have it. Worth asking though.
Hope you do get it, I assume I have it on my car as I have the premium plus package but haven't really noticed it so no big deal if it isn't there.
@Philamg If you've got the gesture tailgate activation and touch-to-lock/unlock door handles then there will be LEDs set into those door handles too. If you simply disarm with the remote after dark you will see all 4 handles shine a light at the recessed area to show you where to grab them. The LEDs are prone to failing so make sure all 4 are still functional just before your warranty expires.
Thanks Toobad, never used the remote so will give it a try.
Many thanks for the tip re LEDs.
I have 11 months MB warranty remaining; however I have purchase an extra 5 years “extended OEM” warranty from a third party Ins company.
