Hi folks. I am very happy with my GLC but not so enthused with the Garmin GPS navigation system with which it is equipped. As I drive 50% of the time in foreign countries across Europe, perhaps the most idiotic feature for me is that voice audio is only available in the local language of each country, which means changing language settings to match the language of the country you are driving in. I guess I'll just have to live with it but I have one question. The GPS of my previous car , a 2009 Volvo XC 60 had inbuilt speed camera alerts, which saved me a fortune in fines. I understand car manufacturers now cannot include such alerts in their GPS systems but is it possible to download an updated version of the GPS on the Garmin website that includes such alerts? Thanks
I know the stand-alone Garmin GPS units can read the speed camera database file compiled by Cyclops. It contains all the locations of speed cameras across Europe. Whether the Garmin technology integrated into the GLC is sufficiently standard to also accept this database, I do not know. I guess a quick call to your dealer or Garmin will provide the answer. Do let us all know the outcome. A free 30-day trial of the database is available.
