My GLC 250d has a preheating function. I use the remote rarely. But it has another automatic function that turns on at engine startup when the air temperature is cold. When that happens, engine water temperature rises much quicker and cabin heating starts working really fast. So that is all good. What i'm wondering about is how much stress does this function cause to the battery and/or engine on everyday basis? I would say none, since the engine is already working and battery charging, but what do you think?
Another question about this system. If i do use a remote controler and turn on the car heating i get nice warm car in about 15 minutes. But it has no effect to engine water temperature so it looks like it only heats the blowing air and not the engine water. Does anyone know if i could set it up so warm the engine water also?
