I bought one of the first GLC300 to hit the WA market, and I love it! Except now its at the dealership with "software issues" :(

The whole electronics console wigged out on me and kept shutting down during my commute. Car unlocked itself and opened the hatch while we were inside the house... Called dealer, they ran diagnostics, and are awaiting "software udpate" from MB Germany... it's been over 2 weeks. I am thinking that MB Germany has to be writing new SW code... how hard is it to get SW transferred in today's world?

Any one else out there having SW/Electronics issues? I miss my car...

That's one thing why Japanese cars are more reliable , not in terms of engine design but better electronic designs. I could never understand why MB , BMW and AUDI would not want to work with Lexus for the electronics portion of the car...(ignorance or ego , I guess... I traveled to Germany for business a lot of times, and they say there are 3 ways of doing business; the right way, the wrong way ... and the German way) I would buy that car in a heartbeat... Do we see any TV / stereo equipment in BestBuy from Europe ? That's one of the main reasons why I would go with Lexus at my age , i.e. don't want my car in a garage due to poor electronic devices....

That what i have noticed as well and they keep it rather simple and limited which is good, almost fool proof. kind of like what apple does with its products.
I like MB engine , I still drive my '96 E-320 , but its electronic sucks... The good thing is that back then there were not many electronic devices like cars today,,,, and the more advanced techno in cars the more reliable Japanese cars are... Yes I help build computer chips so I know how important "electronic connections' are. VW is the worse in this category :surprise:

The user interface of the electronics on this new GLC model was very user friendly. One of the reasons I pulled the trigger and got it... But still... It is going to take over a month to get the new software - so I'm in a loaner until then. :(

I bought a GLC in early May. Two weeks after purchase the emergency brake began to randomly engage! It was in service for a month waiting for a MB software update. As of now the pre-safe system randomly issues warnings even when I'm on a four lane road with nothing around me. I think the GLC has serious electronics issues that MB refuses to acknowledge yet.

I Just recently received my car with 7 miles. Taking a road trip and stuck on side of the road unable to clean my windshield due to unable to spray front window wiper fluid. I even bought wind shield fluid to add but doesnt like the system is working. I got wind shield fluid to come out in the back. Hopefully not electronic issue. In the mean time bottle of water om side of the road to clean window :(

My GLC is currently in the shop for a software update - estimated to take 7-9 hours!

Last Wednesday, the screen went black when I started it up - radio was putting out sound, but I could not set nav destination, select phone screen, choose media, etc. As I had to pass the dealer on my way to a meeting, I stopped in and was told that since I picked the car up at the factory in April, there was 'a stack of DVD's' that needed to be applied to the system. The screen then came on and worked over the weekend. Dropped it at dealer Monday morning, got a call late in the day indicating that after the update had completed, the tech got a message that the screen needed to be replaced - now waiting for the part to arrive, should be in today.

I'm not surprised at all about the length of the software update. I used to work in a BMW dealership and that's about how long it would take, sometimes with a road test and other testing and sometimes without. But as long as they give you a decent loaner and make sure they're doing all they should for you, it doesn't make that much of an impact in the overall experience.

Hi

I've had my GLC 250 AMG for a couple of months and yesterday the Comand Online Sat Nav and traffic sign alerts failed. The Sat Nav just freezes on the "initiating" screen and traffic sign alerts show up on the dash as unavailable when you start the car. A system reset failed to clear the problem, so it's back to the dealer in a week or so. Suspect it's something to do with the comm's module, as all of the other COMAND functions are working fine. I must say it's disappointing for what is a rather expensive option... will post back what the fix was...

My Sony Xperia runs Android Marshmallow 6.0.1. Comand Online has no trouble connecting to it via Bluetooth. The Dealer paired the phone for me as part of their new car induction when I picked it up back in June when it was still on Android Lollipop 5.1.1. I'm pleased to say when I upgraded from v5 to v6 there were no connection issues I had to resolve.

Update 26/10 - The dealer has had it for 3 days, done 2 software re-installs, replaced the GPS antenna, and the Sat Nav is still not working. They have gone back to Merc' with the diagnostics and Merc' are writing a custom software patch which will be ready in a couple weeks. Quite why it could be a software issue when the car was fine on delivery and nothing has changed, is beyond me.:surprise: They seem reluctant to admit a hardware failure and replace the COMAND system, (£££!), but my bet is that's what it will come to in the end. Currently driving a loan E Class with the new virtual dash, which is nice. Will post back again with the next instalment!

28/10 - and "Bingo" they have come back to be and will be replacing the COMAND system next Thursday. Fingers crossed it will all be sorted by next weekend.

All fixed. Got a payment from them for the inconvenience and they replace the COMAND system completely. Happy that it's all fixed but not so happy with the reliability in the first place. Anyone had similar issues?

Shutdown @ highway speeds

My 2016 GLC shut down on me, twice, while driving in the left lane at highway speeds of around 70mph. At first a pre-safe warning message flashes and then the car begins to steadily slow down. No response from driver inputs other than steering. The car will come to a complete stop in about 2-3 minutes. I was scared to death the second time because it happened on a mountain pass highway with no shoulder due to snow pile up. I had to cross over 2 lanes of traffic while traveling much slower than the surrounding cars. It was harrowing. I can't imagine how anyone would write software code that would allow the car to shut down. I'm tempted to contact the NTSB.
Anyway, MB dealer said, "yeah, we've heard of this happening" just bring it in and we'll take a look. Rather cavalier for a situation that nearly had me on the evening news in a very bad way.
