Glc tyre skipping and wear

Bought my glc approx 1 year ago from my local mercedes dealer, its a glc250 premium plus amg line on a 2016 with 39k on the clock with full mercedes history, had a few niggles but the worst is the skipping and jumping on the front tyres, also wearing the edges, reported this issue to the dealer, they came back to me that the job to rectify this would cost approx£1800 but mercedes would contribute two thirds of the cost so id have to pay £600,wasnt too happy with this,so i phoned MB customer service, told them about the issue and also we drive very little of it due to this issue, only done between 4-5k in the year we have had it,also the edge of the front tyres wearing, today i had a reply from them, telling me that they will mot cover the full cost due to the mileage was over the threshold,it’s embarrassing that all these glc’s have this fault and mercedes dont realy acknowledge it as a fault, but offer the fault fix at a price!!my next step is the ombudsman to see if i can get any sense, anyone else gone down this route, looking forward to feedback on this issue, very dissapointing mercedes, thx marc

Search the Forum for Crabbing
It gets significantly worse in the winter
Amazing how your cars original owner will have accepted this Crabbing fault as a Characteristic and Comfort issue - it’s a £40k - £50k car that feels like it’s doing a Hop-Skip-and-Jump or having a Fit - bouncing & juddering like a tractor.
The GLC is otherwise a fabulous car.
Think I would pay the £600 to get it fixed - ours had New tyres and the Knuckle fix under warranty
I would be very surprised if the ombudsman found in your favour - always worth a try, but long-winded and annoying.
The Knuckle fix makes a big difference, however the Crabbing is still inherently there, and can be felt through the steering wheel. Especially now you know what it feels like, you automatically find yourself checking for the characteristic.
After this rant - Remembering I shouted continuously at the MB Dealer and MB HQ for 3 years m. The GLC is still a good car - Honestly
Good luck

Hi Tony, think il give my dealer s ring and see if they can contribute something towards this,as i did report it within the years warranty they gave me on purchase,iv also done a years extended warranty on it,its very dissapointing !!!!
This issue has been cured on all glc's except the 43 and 63, new knuckles were a factory fix from November 18.

Marc, it’s no secret that the juddering is a problem with the GLC’s. Mine did it from new. The dealer acknowledged the issue but said I’d have to live with it because the issue was unable to be fixed. I did 25000km on those tyres (Continentals from memory), and when they were sufficiently worn I put Pirelli Scorpions on the car. What a difference! No juddering, quieter, better grip and with 60000km on the clock they are only half worn. Go with Pirelli’s!
