I bought a 2017 GLC300 1.5 years ago (less than 13K miles) and had the problem since week 1. I was ensured there would be a fix and still this amount of time later, there still isn't one. Additionally on an icy day, all of the cars in front and behind me were able to stop but i wasn't and had to brush the guard rail. As of yesterday, my car went from my gas light blinking to the check engine light going on. Apparently my gas cap was lose but that didn't seem to turn it off either. I want my dealership to buy back my vehicle at this point and will also be contacting Mercedes directly. I recommend the Q5 as I never had one issue with it and more luxurious overall.

My GLC250d bought in 2016 also has brake noise when in reverse sometimes since new, the dealer said they could not detect it when it was in service. the brake pad wear warning came n at 23,000km. Expensive to replace the brake pads, but no choice. Auto start function also became erratic.
Very disappointed to have bought a luxury car and brake pads and brakes are worse than my Hyundai which did 110,000km without the need to change brake pads.

My brakes have squealed a little at times but a few hard braking actions seem to cure it however yesterday over a 60 mile route home towing a caravan they were truly horrible and I didn't want hard braking with a heavy twin axle on the back. It was certainly loud enough to turn heads and with temperatures around 18c it's not weather related.

If it continues I'll be calling in on the dealer. Car is a 250d registered end Sept 2017 done 6000 miles.

GLC 220D Brake squealing

Hi all, I also have started getting the brakes squealing noise while reversing the car ( GLC 220D model Oct 2017). the Dealer has checked it and mentioned that the brakes were cleaned and now it should not occur again. However after two days itself the noise reappeared.

We have a 2016 GLC250. It's a beautiful car to drive EXCEPT for the brake squeaking. The dealer originally said it was probably due to dirt on the brake pads as if cleaning them was as simple as washing the car. We've taken in to another M-B service centre three or four times. All brake pads were replaced. But the squeaking remained. It is not as frequent as before, but sometimes in reverse it is loud enough to give you a fright. M-B head office said it was 'probably the way you drive'. Excuse me?? I have now discovered this forum and note my complaint is far from isolated.

I gather M-B is aware of the problem, though is reluctant to own up to it because of the potential consequences.

Does anyone know if the cause of the problem has been pinpointed and actually rectified?? If so, what was the solution?

Thanks.

Brake Issues

Same issue here on a new 2018 GLC 43 with 7,000 KM. Got the car as a demo June 26th and noticing loud squealing noise when reversing and also when in traffic. This doesn't seem to be like on my C400 that was only in the winter months. This is very embarrassing and MB has to do something about it. Does anyone have a service bulleting for this issue? Some one mentioned #L142.10-P-064944 and #L142.10-P-065927 but does anyone know what this is?

Aldo, how are your brakes, still no squeak?

Just reversed mine out the garage with squeaking. It`s a 2018 GLC 220D with just over 6000 miles on the clock.
Yes mate all fine still it’s like a different car ,got them all changed under warranty the rears were done twice changed in a matter of a few hundred miles ,
as I said as merc came out with another upgrade as the first change didn’t stop the squealing .
They seem to have it sorted now

Should be covered by factory warranty because it's a manufacturer problem and not cause by you. Just bring it in to the dealership for a fix or replacement. Let us know how it goes!
I took my car to get the brake defect fixed - after having been told twice earlier that it is a known defect and that MB will get back to me once fix was available.
Earlier today took the car to the MB dealer in Plano, TX and was rudely told that it is now out of warranty, fix is there but pay for it ??
Called the customer support # to lodge formal complaint and he says there is no one to complain to - he has documented it but there is nothing else I can do about it.
This is ridiculous and infuriating - when I had already told 2 separate MB dealerships about the defect within the 1st year and they kept kicking the can down the road until it was out of warranty.
MB should be ashamed of itself for treating its customers this way and making a fool out of us.
I plan to lodge a formal complaint both with MB and outside forums - better business bureau and others. There has got to be some action taken to get MB treat its customers right and get past this sham of 'excellence in service'!!!!!
They knew it from beginning that its defective brake pads and will not admit to fixing it in warranty.
SHAMEFUL and must NOT BE IGNORED by current/ future customers.

Curious how much GLC 300 owners pay for their annual Service B? Was blown away today when I took my 2016 MB GLC 300 in for its annual service and was told that I had to have "Service B" which will cost around $700 or more!

Vibrating brakes when cold and wet

Hi,
just checking here if anyone has experienced on the plug-in hybrid GLC 350e a brake judder or vibration, especially during the first 1-2 brake applications at slow speed when the car is still cold and/or wet? I have had the brakes checked at the dealership but they found nothing wrong. My car has only 16000 km on the clock since new (May 2017). But this brake shaking has been present most of that time. I suspect this problem has something to do with the transfer between regenerative braking and regular hydraulic braking. I understand that the car is programmed to make a test of the braking system during the first 1-2 brake application each time it starts. Any comments?

Never ending squealing brakes

My 2016 GLC300 has its 4th set of brakes and still squeals like a stuck pig! It's totally embarrassing to drive. The dealership has no solutions. Good thing my lease expires soon so I can get anything but another Mercedes-Benz. I had the same issue with my previous 2014 E300
