At the risk of being too anal, I think my hood gap is possibly out of spec?

I haven't had a chance to get by the dealer to check out the rest of the cars on the lot so I thought I'd post some pics for your feedback.

For size reference, I placed a standard AAA battery in the gap. It fits right in. Take a look and let me know, how big is your gap?

I love the idea of an AAA battery as a universal tester, brilliant. I tried the wife's & mine and neither will accommodate a battery but the gap on mine is slightly larger than the Mrs car. I guess this must be an area where there is a bit of tolerance ? Let us know how you get on.

That is one bad panel margin. May well be adjustable at the hood hinge or central catch but that is very unacceptableIMHO. Cant believe it left Bremen like that. Should be more like 6mm or 1/4 inch at the most. On a closer look my guess is the closing stops or the latch itself needs adjusting and it is just that the bonnet isn't closing far enough.

Definitely not like yours. Our bonnet fits snuggly into place.
Trip to the dealership I'm afraid.

Yes, I'm definitely going to have to take it in and complain, it can't be right. However, I'm really struggling with how they would fix it as it seems like the other gaps would get too tight. Maybe they have some body panel adjustment magic? It is really starting to bug me and catches my eye every time I walk into the garage. I'm really disappointed I didn't notice it before taking delivery.

I know what you mean, I have a very small scratch on my bike and I'm sure it's getting bigger every time I see it.... The daft thing is I have to duck down a bit to see it and I find myself stooping as I go into the garage so I can see it. The mind is a a funny old thing.

further... just watched a Youtube video and there appear to be two posts standing above the radiator area with hex or octagonal heads standing several inches up...are they adjustable stops for bonnet travel..?
