Mercedes-Benz has reconfirmed that it will unveil the new GLC compact crossover on June 17th. That's next Wednesday!

The upcoming GLC is the next generation GLK. Mercedes-Benz is changing the name in order to fit this new model into its new naming scheme. The GLC name is meant to connect the model with the similarly sized C-Class. Other vehicles in the Mercedes-Benz lineup have already been affected by the new naming scheme. The ML has become the GLE, the GL has become the GLS and the SLK has become the SLC.

The GLC will be equipped with Mercedes-Benz's multi-chamber air suspension AIR BODY CONTROL, DYNAMIC SELECT system and 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The company claims that fuel efficiency has also been improved by up to 19%.

The company said of the debut:

"[The] GLC retains its predecessor's outstanding off-road characteristics and combines them with an all-new design
For those who are more concerned with power than they are about fuel efficiency there is the range-topping Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 which is outfitted with a twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine. That engine can be found now in the AMG C63, but we don't have official confirmation of the AMG GLC yet.

Yet another model variant for the GLC will be the GLC Coupe. That model will be aimed squarely at the BMW X4.

We shouldn't be in for much of a surprise since MB's designs are quite predictable with all we've seen. But i'll be looking forward to finally seeing this thing.

Do you think that the AMG version will look much different from the regular version?

as different as they usually look. different bumpers, wheels, fatter rubber, massive exhaust pipes...
