Howdy Alfie, you are very welcome to the forum.. I traded my two year old 520BMW with 24000 miles recorded and got three different prices from three different dealers (stealers) The dealer I dealt with was 7000euro cheaper that the dearest dealer. Now pick the bones out of that......

Alfie,

What do you make of the off road pack in both effect on handling, comfort and looks due to increased ride height. I presume that you have 18" wheels, which look good I think, and no air suspension. I'm really hung up on weether to spec this option.

If you were referred to your Dealer via a website broker like CarWow or Orange Wheels then you would have gained a discount of approximately 8% nett before VAT. My designo Hyacith Red 220d Sport Premium Plus with Driver's Assist, Off-road, 360 degree camera and Air Body Control came in at £41248 by going through Orange Wheels. The air suspension is just sublime and totally transforms the car. It is worth every penny of the £1495 it costs.

Hi
I really looked in to this spec as I intend to keep the car for a time if I was only going to keep the car for the warranty pieriod I would have gone for the air suspension looking at the air suspension as a long term option and talking to friends in the moter trade dicide not to order it
As a option.
As for the off road pack it was a no brainier you can't get one alloy wheel for the price and gives you more settings
As for handling the car I test drove was fine with 18 wheels if you want better handling I think x3 better option
But not as comfortable.

This is only my opinion the bottem line is you pay your money and make your choice

Just herd from the dealer today buid time buid time put back 6 weeks

I think it's worth waiting for.

Yes, in the greater scheme of things, the Off-road package seems remarkably under-priced for what you get - better approach angle, sump guard, uprated underbody panelling, extra drive modes and a 6 degree wider headlight beam spread. I like the 5-spoke 18-inchers because you can get your hand through the spokes with a wash mitt to clean the wheel wells. If you are keeping the car for a long time I would apply a semi-permanent glass coating to the rims. The hot particles from the brake pads can land on the wheels and burn through the lacquer. Then the road salt in winter gets to the raw aluminium and corrosion starts under the lacquer. I used CarPro DLUX, it is also great for protecting the exterior trim from the UV which makes it go grey and powdery over time. Click here for DLUX info

Mercedes do seem prone to production delays due to stock control problems. Recently there was a long wait for cars with the black ash interior because it is only produced by one Japanese company who simply could not keep up with demand. Designo Hyacinth Red was my delay, they stockpile the orders until there is sufficient volume that it becomes worth putting it in the paint robots' guns. Buy hey, all good things come to those who wait.

You may want to check with your Stealer about the implications of fitting a towbar. I think it may have an adverse effect on the rear parking sensors. I know you can't have the hands-free tailgate operation but then that is only available with the Premium Plus option anyway.

Hi have chqued
The only diffrance between premium and premium plus is the sound system and the online command system.

The remote tail gate realease and parking sensors will be ok if you have a factory fitted tow bar all the systems will work ok
But if you have the amg line the remote tail will not work as it is a lower bumper.

But all I can do Is wait for the car to turn up to see what is what the dealer is not sure on anything you ask them.

Might be that I went through a on line broker.

Has any one looked at the weather tec mats ?

Weathertecheurope.com would have been my first port of call if I hadn't been able to seal the deal by getting the OEM all-weather rubber mats and cargo liner thrown in for free. IMHO the Weathertech laser-cut 3D products just blow the genuine Mercedes offerings out of the water and at around £210 delivered, work out at about the same price for a set of mats and a boot liner. Their website only shows mats and liners for the 2016 models but I'm not aware of any floorpan changes to the 2017 models so I suspect they just haven't updated their website yet.

On the other hand Calibre Autoparts Direct will do you a full set of rubber from their eBay UK shop for £37.48 delivered:

Have orderd the Weathertec mats hope thay arrive before the car
Have also orderd the splash gards /mud flaps front and rear there are diffrant sets with running boards and with out and
Stainles rear bumper protecter, and rear doors seals stainles protecters.

Now onto roof bars the Oem bars look ok but I like a small overhang each side for tying off the favourite so far is the altera aero alley bar
also made in Germany

The best looking bars I have seen was on a tourag two bars that lock together to look like a spioler that you leave on the rear of the car
But can't as yet find if they fit the glc.

The main reason I went for the side steps was to make it easier to put bikes kayak ect on to the roof as the tow bar will used for towing

Thank for the info you have sent back.
