New problem.

Received an email from Mercedes saying a new map update was available. I downloaded using the download manager, plugged the usb into the USB slot in the car and as per the instructions it started to auto install. About five minutes later the install was complete and the system restarted. Once the system had restarted I had lost all volume, media, media settings, voice recognition, ‘hey Mercedes’ and pretty much everything to do with media and entertainment. Even trying to change the sound profiles or graphic equaliser resulted in a”function not available’ error message.
I tried a couple of restarts but nothing worked. I gave up. If it is still not working tomorrow I’ll have to do a factory reset. Not ideal as I’ve just got the in car office to work.

Not impressed.

This is in a new MBUX model? Weird, I've done the same process here in Australia and the update didn't mess anything up. (Although I imagine my maps are different to yours, and I never received an email from MB telling me there was an update)

Yes, new model I believe they called it the 2020 model but I picked it up in October 2019.
I didn't get a chance to try it this morning.

This was part of the email

Part of our offer for you is the "Online Map Update" service.

A new version for your navigation maps is available at the Mercedes me Portal.
You can download the maps from the portal to bring your navigation system right up to date.
If you receive automatic map updates for a certain region, this will continue to work in the customary manner.

Kind regards,

Your Map Update Team

So I logged in and followed the instructions to download the download manager and copy the files to a memory stick.

I don't know if it's related, but today when I've gone to check for new updates it tells me the online map update is unavailable for technical reasons. Perhaps they pulled the update?

That would explain it. Just my luck it corrupts something in the system. Could have been worse, as the dash is also a screen I dread to think of what else could have gone down with it. Gives a whole new meaning to the term car crash
