My wife received a letter yesterday (dated November) stating her GLC 300 was being recalled because of a potential insufficient grounding that along with other issues could cause an inadvertent deployment of the driver airbag.

This letter stated "Should the SRS light illuminate, bring the vehicle to your preferred authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership to be diagnosed and determine if the illuminated SRS light is related to this recall."

If the light comes on in my wife's vehicle, I'm going to tell her to pull over immediately and call AAA to tow the car to the dealership.

The letter also states that if the light is not illuminated, there is no cause for concern, parts are not currently available to fix the problem and another letter will be sent when they are.

The recall affects quite a few B-Class, C-Class, E-Class, CLA, GLA, GLC and GLK vehicles. MY affected vary by Class but range from 2012 through 2018.

If you haven't received the letter, you can check on: and enter your vin. Wife's VIN was listed as affected.
