poor fuel economy. Dieselgate.

Hi All,
Late last year I took my GLC250D into a Mercedes dealership in Brisbane for a brake and disc change. While the dealer had the car they decided to perform an ECU software update as part of a recall. After taking back take the car, I noticed the fuel economy was poorer. Before the software update I was consistently achieving 7.5L/100km around the city. Now, its hard to get anything less than 9.5L/100km even if with the most efficient driving. In addition there is an increase in the usage of the Adblue.

Its now just over a year since the ECU software update and I am still only getting the mid 9s/100km. I am wondering how many other GLC owners in Australia have had their ECU updated by the factory and are experiencing similar worse fuel economy.

I have read there a number of class action in the UK against Mercedes for this software update. I am wondering there is anything similar being done in Australia. Or what other options we have for a fix.

That in my opinion that is low was just considering that your average temp must be around 20 C on a poor day My GLC22d returns around 42 MPG Imperial North east of Scotland. I would have a word with the dealer, my other question has the fuel companies been faffing around with the diesel speck. This happened in the UK with the Agri Diesel and caused all sort of problems they had increased the % of Bio, the usual results did nothing for the farming industry but the lawyers did all right.
I did not join the class action because my Mercedes is Euro 6 ie has add blue.
temps in northern Scotland ranges from 6 C to a very hot summer's day 24 C.

Thanks for your post Ian. Yes, I am trying to contact the dealership but they don’t appear interested in assisting. I am not surprised! I will keep trying.
Your 42MPG is an awesome. I guess your car ECU software is original from factory?

One of the problems in Australia is our diesel is amongst the dirtiest in the world therefore performance/fuel economy are nowhere near as good as yours in addition as you pointed out your temperaturrs are considerably cooler than ours and the colder the air going into the turbo the more efficient it will be
Hi
I have 250D (2017) and my fuel consumption says usually 5.5 litres per 100 kilometers, I seldom race around usually freeway driving
I have oddly noticed the car more fuel efficient when the aircon is on than with windows down :)

There is a problem with the emission with AdBlue and Noc sensors being affected badly you get engine light on and AdBlue locking you out and going into Limp mode and shutting down after 800km this is all related to cheating Mercedes Benz tried to cheat the Emission requirements in Europe and got caught out I have the V class 220d there is a recall for this motor and yours in Europe MB in Australia are very quite on this u can get up grade on software but you ever experience fuel consumption going up or my issues and its all related with this diesel gate check out on the net MB should be ashamed of themselves my V220 has been of the road more than I have driven it I'm about to contact Consumer Law about these Bastards regards Peter
