Think it is a safety thing. It’s a bit of a pain but as soon as you get into the car you can restart. I think the theory goes you could possibly put it into gear as you climb into the car which would not be a good thing.
LOVE remote starts, except i just found out you can not consecutively more than 2 times or something...

every time you start it runs for 10 minutes and then shuts off. after three 10 minute cycles you are correct you cannot remote start again.,

Remote start in in the Mercedes Me app in US. There are a handful of requirement that must be met before it will start. Some are doors locked, min fuel level. I'm sure there are more. The app will show a 10min countdown also will turn off when you unlock the doors. My old Nissan was push button start and once started, you could drive away without key. Have tested glc yet to see if you can drive without key in car. This might be why it shuts off when unlocked. The app also shows interior temp at start and current to help judge if it's warmed or cooled
Not available in UK.

I had the Nissan Pathfinder - remote start was awesome. Once in the car, you had to push the button to "officially" start the car with fob in proximity... it would NOT just drive off. If you put it in to gear without the push button start (or I imagine inserting the key w/o a fob), it would turn off. I love my Mercedes, but this is a real miss - how does Nissan have a way better solution than Mercedes for this?
