Supply Problems

Good evening all.

Well an interesting development.. Salesman phoned me today, a really nice guy so no problem there, informing me there is a huge issue with supply of Night Package and as it stands will not be available till June. Also supply issue with Burmester units too with availability date uncertain.

So hr has been trying to rob in line stock of other orders with little success. So closest he could off er was my car with all options but the Night Pack. He said what do you think and of course as Hurly will say this colour without black framing is just not to be. He suggested having it wrapped I said no. So he will have it confurmed yes or no my 22/2 /17.

So needless say no car as I want then no order...

A bit p*****d off here..

Disaster...Time for a rethink. I thought production was being increased with a plant in Finland this year?
@ Mobydick
Ouch! I feel your pain. So essentially the best you can now expect is Brilliant Blue AMG Premium Plus to meet the original date. A pseudo Night Package wrap with painted wheels would probably go north of the £1550 saving of the reduced VED over the next 5 years so perhaps waiting until June isn't such a bad thing if this combo what you really really want. Of course your trade-in or private sale value may have fallen slightly too over those 3 months especially with the media reporting a surge in anti-diesel feeling this evening. Assuming the Burmester shortage has also cleared by June, it looks like your dream car has just gone up by at least £1500. Hopefully by then Mercedes may have found a fix for the crabbing problem.

Would make life much easier if I hated the car.. lol.

I do not wish to contribute to the chancelors back door Dick Turpin tax so will probably wait until a used model comes up.

At £45k I am not settling for anything but my chosen car... Period...

Quite right Mobydick, spoke to my salesman today about crabbing issue and he said car was still on schedule for 1st March, will be interested to see if that changes as I have premium plus and night package.

When I ordered mine was told I would have to wait an extra 3 months if I wanted 20 inch wheels.

I think you ok Phil with orders already in the pipeline but fulfillment for new ones like mine dodgy.

Out of curiosity what did the sales guy say about crabbing problem..
I hope this isn't the case Mobydick,as I'm in a similar situation with mine due mid March with Premium Plus and Night pack.
Not wanting to question your salesman but he may have sold you a car in the system which he couldn't aquire, then doing some back peddling with the offer for the other car.I had this with my dealer, sold me a car then a week later couldn't secure it then looked around the system for an alternative.
I'll check tomorrow to make sure mines still on schedule and let you know.

Mobydick, I have posted on the crabbing thread that I spoke to him today and he is checking to see if there is any news from MB, he isn't in tomorrow but will let me know Wednesday. I have already told him that if I am not happy with the car I will return it in the 30 day period.

Good to see this forum being used more now as most of the posters are from the UK, difficult on other forums as all the markets have different specs and issues.

I see what you saying and to some degree this is what he has done from day one. The car I was having was already prepared production but modifiable. In this case the who car will be delayed in production because of lack of said items. Prior to me taking in though it was a garage stock vehicle. Salesman very transparent and I understood all he showed me on the computer. Quite happy no underhand stuff going on.

Purely a case they haven't got what I want and all held stock of items already allocated to builds in production and new ones like mine cannot have them... But will leave it with salesman as I know if he can find a way he will.....

For what the "Stealers" are currently asking for used models I'd be very tempted to hang out for a new model. Listers in Lincloln are currently offering a 250d AMG Premium Plus in Obsidian Black with the Night Package and black 20's. It's got the 360 camera and running boards but no Intelligent Light System. They want £43,666 for this ex-demonstrator with over 5000 miles on the clock. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask! I suppose a purveyor of the finest recreational pharmaceuticals will snap it up. It would also be perfect for escorting The Donald down The Mall when he comes to visit.

Morning,

I agree Toobad. Had a scan around Autotrader last night and the prices out there are pretty inflated. Testimony to the desirability of the motor I guess..

Will see what happens between now and the 22nd February to see if I am in with a chance. Dented enthusiasm now and am genuinely perturbed my MB being up front about making you legally accept a defective vehicle with a design flaw. What are they thinking? These are no Yugos or Polski Fiats FFS....

I think the Speaker of the House would agree with you this morning Lol... DT in for a rough ride....
If I were in your shoes and did eventually allow myself to get past the ridiculous disclaimer being imposed, I think I would have to take it on the chin and let the Chancellor raped me for the extra VED. Mine was a bucket list car and, like you, I was very particular about the exact spec. It has, without a doubt, provided me with the best driving experience I could have wished for and if I had been forced to compromise on my criteria, I fear every time I got in it I would have had just enough tinge of regret to make it just a slightly less than optimal experience. After the 22nd it may be worth entering your requirements through a broker like CarWow, Orange Wheels or Drive the Deal. There may be other dealer networks with an upcoming Brilliant Blue production slot where the car can still be modified to your requirements who are willing to pick up your business. I would, however, expect a slight blip in demand as everybody tries to beat the VED deadline so killer deals may be harder to thrash out.

Spoke to my salesguy today and he confirmed any new builds are being put back due to the Night Pack being in short supply, this also applies to changing existing build specs, any cars that have past the cut off and have an agreed due date are ok.
Also questioned him about the disclaimer and he says Mercedes wants to makesure buyers have been told of the "characteristic" of the model.
We'll see better when it's fully released to the public I think,I want to see what small print they put in there.

Cheers for this post Millduu. Never believed my sales guy fibbing but nice to know it is a national thing. Will be interesting what the motoring press say about this flaw and how it is worded too.

Hope no one else on here affected...
Hey Moby, sad to hear of the supply issue. Did they confirm not possible? I've got mine with the night pack too, but not heard anything from the dealer yet. I think it's got a build date of 18 feb, but will drop the sales guy an email to check if everything is still going well.
Muks, hopefully yours should be ok, mine arrived at dealer with night pack this week.

Evening Muks. If car already in build stack you ok however new orders like mine just no packs until June so nothing. Not heard anything from dealer and don't expect to until 22/2. I emailed them on Monday saying if they are considering asking me to sign that disclaimer MB are asking you to they will be waiting a long time. I have no response.

You should be fine with yoursome mate enjoy the anticipation...

Your GLC won't be delivered until June this year? :frown2: Didn't see this thread until now, what's this disclaimer? Or can you not tell anyone who doesn't already know about it?

Morning Needforspeed. Black package is in zero supply at the moment on the GLC and anticipated delivery dictates that MB are unable to supply vehicle with that option as a new order until June.

Regarding the disclaimers please read further back into this thread and you will find links to both the imminent press release regarding the clonking issue and the disclaimer the purchaser shall be asked to sign.

MB gonna have a really bad day on 17th February......
