Hi all
After months of trying to find out how to tighten my loose very annoying rear view mirror with no luck I finally cracked it myself so able to share
Sit in passenger seat
Remove plastic cover around mirror
Twist mirror towards you to full 12-6 position
Force further towards you until mirror pops from clamp
Tight star screw where clamp was fixed
Put clamp on mirror back into position that mirror popped out of
Turn mirror towards driver side keeping pressure pushed upwards until mirror pops back in
Mirror now tight
Put plastic cover back on
Job done

hope this helps with a very frustrating issue 😁

My GLC rear view mirror has become detached completely from the roof of the car. The threaded bar that should be screwed into the roof has come out. Can this be put back in? I'm unsure to detatch the plate from the mirror assy.

I figured this out. This entire roof plate had come loose, so follwing the advice from this forum I was able to remove the roof console and disconnect the mirror wiring then remove the entire assy and get the plate off. The plate attaches to the roof of the car with a bolt, then the mirror fits back on. Getting the mirror back on was the hardest part imo.
Before consulting this forum I'd called MSL here in Dublin who, depsite me being able to tell them exactly what was wrong, insisted that I book the car in for a diagnostic. Ridiculous.
